Norm Douglas - Web Designer - Joomla Expert - IT Professional
Norm Douglas loves technology. Just so happens he also has a little bit of a design bent, and really digs multi media. Early in his career, photography captured his interest and he built a career in the Photographic industry in Australia. When digital photography started to surface, he could see that this is where the future was. Over the next decade or so, Norm immersed himself in everything IT. After being a systems administrator for a 500+ screen company and then running his own successful IT support business, he is now well and truly settled in the world of Web Design.
Over the years Norm has always built web sites even from as early as 1997. Whilst researching and trying to develop his own rudimentary CMS from php, Norm stumbled upong Mambo the precursor of Joomla.
Seeing the benefits not only to him as a developer but also to his clients, Norm immediately set about learning everything he could about PHP, MYSQL, CSS, CMS and ultimately Joomla.
Norm's broad range of IT experience and skills come together to make him an excellent all round tutor. Not happy with just "showing" you how to do x and y, Norm will explain concepts to you. His goal is to help as many people as he can become better developers, webmasters, content managers or just contributors as he can, so that the Open Source community may grow larger.
Norm also has an excellent understand both practical and in theory about how to teach adults. This has come about also in his capacity as one of Australia's leading Mountain Bike Skills instructors, where he and his wife Jessica run the immensely popular mtbskills.com.au.
Norm's passion for teaching will come out in all his videos, and you can be guaranteed to benefit from his knowledge.
